Oh real one, I've tried to help you but you continue to come across as arrogant. I'm sure you'll learn with time that you are just putting poeple's back up.

Immigration
by Princess Daisy Boo inloubelle has started a couple of threads about the really bad situation we are living in here in sa.
they are no exaggeration - things really are not great and people around us all seem to be talking about whether to leave or not.
and for the first time, we are amongst those talking about leaving - debating whether or not we would be able to give up life here and start over somewhere else.

I am not a spoiled rich white woman, bitter because the easy life before during apartheid is gone. I am just a woman trying to make a life for myself and my family. I do not consider any other country to be my home and I do not have any allegiance to any other country except South Africa, but I am not a political activist and never will be. I am a wife and a mother and if ensuring the safety of my family means moving to another country, well then that is what I will have to do.
Amen sister

Jeeze Layla please back off a bit. My kids are in school and they don't even see colour! The problems South Africa is facing is CRIME not because of backround but because of a lack of good leadership in this country. You are so intent on bring up the past, you don't live here. What would you do if your child was raped by a black man because he has been told by his witch doctor that it cures AIDS. The govenment is turning a blind eye to all sorts of disgusting violent crimes against women and children OF ALL COLOUR.
There are criminals of all races here because in South Africa CRIME PAYS. Not enough is been done by our very corupt govenment to educate it's people. You speak of people living in shacks, the deputy president spends millions of tax payers money on a holiday with her family. How many homes could that have built? The problem is no longer apartheid the problem here is greed.
Yes aprartheid was an absolute crime agains humanity. Why do our children and by our children I mean ALL South African children have to pay for it?
These thugs have taken over our country and you know what they are not even all South Africans! There was a Russian druglord shot outside of his luxury home. The Chinese are having a field day here and so are the Nigerians. Why do you think so many criminals are making South Africa their home? Cause the officials are easily bribed and so is our govenment.
So Layla I appriciate that you have compasion for the native South Africans, but you don't know the ins and outs of living here. You are coming across as very judgemental on a topic you have a lot of pasion for but not many facts.

My cheesy a$$ goodbye for now thread.
by wanderlustguy insome folks have been checking on me, some have been worried that i am upset with them because all of the sudden i am off the planet except for a hi here and there..if that.
so i thought i should let my friends here know that i am ok, and say thanks for caring...it helps a lot.. a while back i posted about some things that had been happening in my life, some hopeful, as well as some difficulties.
everything has become more complicated and hurried, and there is a huge game of chess being played in so many areas of my life i need to step back and focus, really focus to make sure i do what i need to do and still be someone i can face in the mirror.

Is apartheid really dead?
by LouBelle inmy country has been democratically free since 1994 when nelson mandela was elected as the first black president of south africa - there was much celebration as this new rainbow nation looked to it's bright furture.
mandela had and still has a fantastica aura about him, drawing in all sorts of people for different backgrounds / colours into into his peaceful presence.
mandela holds no bitterness towards his past imprisonment - he thought it a wast of time to dwell on a violent past.

Loubelle, we would like to go to Oz. I feel sick just thinking that uprooting my family and leaving all my friends behind is the only option left.

I'm sorry that I missed this post earlier. Yes South Africa is beautiful and I use to love living here. ...... Things are changing and I'm running scared.
I live in a decent neighbourhood and have both black and white neighbours. In the first two week of this year my house was burggled 3 times! I have bars on all doors and windows so they got in through the garage! I am sick of living in fear. I am worried daily about the safety of my kids.
The govenment is so corrupt they are using money that could be used to help fight the crime in this country. Instead they use it on designer clothing and expensive overseas travel. It is sad to see how people both black and white are leaving because they see no future here. I have been trying to hang on hoping thing would get better. I think it's time for me to leave South Arica and make a future for my kids elsewhere.
You cannot even leave a door open at night while you are home because armed men come in to rob you. This does not even appear in the local newspapers because it's so common. If you have been robbed friends and family will tell you that you are lucky not to have been killed. Every decent person this country knows to not fight for your belonging that you've worked damn hard to get. Just give these thugs what they want and maybe your life will be spared. I say maybe because it depends on the mood of the thief. They have broken into homes a killed parents in front of little children and killed children in front of their parents. This happens to black and white people
Car hijackings are so common that they have put up signs at certain intersections warning motorist that it's a high hijacking section of the road! Do they police it?? NO they just warn you!
The govenment is sending out a lound a clear message in South Africa. They are saying Cime does pay!!! This is a country that allows our children to get raped, murdered and abused with no repocations for these evil men! This is a county where people believe that if you don't have a job you can go and take whatever you want from anyone cause it's your right to.
And before you ask I have been to South Africa. Yes, seen it first hand. I know you are grossly exaggerating and telling half truths about apartheid in reverse. Who are the richest people in South Africa? Who owns all the business and has all the power?
You must have been here a VERY long time ago cause the answer to both your questions is that some of the richest people in SA are black and the black people have all the power. Business are been forced to take on black partners or they do not get govenment backing.
There are still millions of people living under the poverty line but this could be dealt with if the government was not so corrupt.
The problems in SA are no longer because of apartheid, they are because of lack of strong, fair leadership and corruption.

Part 2: OMG - I did it - I told my Mom and Dad how I feel...
by Princess Daisy Boo in5 days after the big showdown with my mom, she called me today.
well she is a bigger person than me - i certainly did not have the guts to do it.
we made a bit of small talk and then she brought up saturdays discussion.
-
Mrs Smith
All we can do is plant seeds of doubts and hope that they grow. The UN thing will bother your mom more that she is willing to admit right now. Remember it took us years to free our minds.
